Tom and Alice Horton along with their Younger versions. Also, Doug and Julie.

Heartstrings were tugged at on the Wednesday of episode Days of our Lives. Family and friends were joined by Doug, Julie, and Maggie as they dug through the burned remains of the Horton home. In the last week, a shady accomplice burned the house down. The week after, it became evident that the fire was not likely to end this Horton legacy from going on. In particular, a Christmas-related miracle brought everyone’s spirits up.

Legacy of Love

Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) along with new viewers were given the Horton History 101 lesson. Two different types of flashbacks help convey the story. A new sequence of them showed the young Tom (Zach Chyz) and Alice (Sydney K. Smith) at different stages of their famous love story. In the end, it resulted in Tom purchasing and enthralling Alice with the house that would be the centre for Salem. Salem universe for a long time.

The second set of flashbacks was focused upon the people who are currently were sifting through the remains from the raging fire. Alongside Doug (the deceased Bill Hayes), Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) as well as Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) were family and friends. They were joined by John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) and Roman (Josh Taylor), Kate (Lauren Koslow) as well as Lucas (Bryan Dattilo). They shared stories from Julie telling Alice about the troublemaker she was, and Lucas saying to Alice “grandma” and their first visit to the Horton house. Marlena was in the Horton home.

Perhaps the most touching moment of the episode was Doug as well as Julie sing Tom (Macdonald Carey) and Alice’s (Frances Reid) theme song Irving Berlin’s “I’ll Always Be Loving You Always.” The moment of emotion began in the present, and it was reprised through the flashback. Additionally, the whole episode concluded with a tribute to the late Bill Hayes, who played Doug Williams for over 50 years. Hayes was a co-star with Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Horton) passed away last month at the age of 98.

It’s a True Horton Christmas Miracle

Alongside the flashbacks and tears-inducing montage towards the conclusion of the show There were also a couple of touching discovery. Although the sofa was completely damaged, they came across Tom and Alice’s beloved chair that was clean and in great condition.

Then, John and Marlena brought boxes filled with the Christmas miracle. The basement was where they discovered ornaments that were the basis of the Hortons famous family tradition. Every year, they set the Christmas ornaments with every family member’s name on them — on top of the tree. They were all secured and safe all in one piece…from the initial five ornaments made from the very first to the most recent, which belongs to Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) and Xander’s (Paul Telfer) daughter, Victoria.

The future of the Hortons

What do these mean about the direction of Horton family from Salem? They’re after all an established family with roots that go way back to the dawn of the DAYS. Chanel’s Sweet Bits Bakery has even included Doughnuts made by Alice (the ones that are made by love as the main ingredient). They are a family of which numbers have decreased since Salem.

Do the enchanting journey through Memory Lane mean DAYS is likely to shift its focus upon the Hortons? Perhaps it’s time to fill the town Hortons both far and near again.
