Kim Matula takes on an exciting new role.

Kim Matula: The (Jane) Curtin Goes Up

As per Deadline, Matula has been chosen to play two-time Primetime Emmy winner Jane Curtin (Kate and Allie the 3rd Rock from the Sun) in SNL 1975. The film was written by Jason Reitman and is based on the behind-the-scenes stories of what transpired behind the scenes of the sketch/variety program that will continue to be broadcast on NBC. Matula will be with Ella Hunt, who will play the great late Gilda Radner back to life along with Emily Fairn, who has been tapped to play Laraine Newman.

Matula was not a lot to laugh about in her stint as Hope and Hope, but she showed her comedy muscles on the brief-lived Fox comedy LA to Vegas. Also, she appeared in UnREAL on Lifetime as well as the movie Fighting with My Family.

The legendary Curtin SNL characters were Prymatt Conehead, as well as Enid Looper. She was a master of impersonation, performing flawless renditions of Anita Bryant, Ann Landers, Betty Ford, and Joan Crawford. In her role as anchor of “Weekend Update,” Curtin was furious every time Radner’s Roseanne Roseannadanna diverted from the topic in her commentary.

“It is with an abundance of elation and gratitude that I share this,” Matula posted on her Instagram account that you can view above. Her B&B pals also weighed in with congratulations. “This is a cool thing to do. Jane Curtain is a freaking comic genius.” said B&B fan Matt Hanvey, known for his hilarious social media re-posts of the show he adores.

“Congrats. I can’t wait to see the film!” says Rena Sofer (ex-Quinn; Lois, General Hospital). Cynthia Popp, producer/director, B&B, enthused, “Fantastic!!! YESSSSSS!!!” Other well-wishers included Matula’s former TV mother Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke), Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter) and Jen Lilley (ex-Theresa, Days of our Lives). SoapsSpoiler.Com also extends kudos to Matula in her role as she assumes the iconic role.
