A Critic’s View Of Y&R Resets and Parent Traps

It is the author’s opinion on Y&R. The opinions are scathing and humorous. They are usually right on target.

Every fan of The Young and the Restless has an opinion about the show. Soap Hub shares this view. We watched Y&R for five days and analyzed the good, bad and everything in-between. Now we give you a review of the week and a cheeky criticism.

Critics’ Take on Young and the Restless

Josh Griffiths’ New Year’s Resolution for 2024 was to repeat. Repeat, repeat and repeat. And reset the characters to their least interesting time.

The plot was a condensed version Meggie’s reign, which was acknowledged by the soap…to a certain extent. So, kudos.(?)

Lucy’s attempts (Lily Brooks O’Briant’s) to parent trap Daniel and Heather (Vail bloom) grate as much as Connor’s efforts (Judah Mackey’s) to reunite Adam and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). It’s neither cute nor symbolic that Phyllis and Summer (Michelle Stafford and Allison Lanier) are in the same situation — as “other women.”

After Friday’s airshow, Summer (if she’s willing) has a clear route to Chance’s (Conner Floyd), at least. This brings me to another pet peeve of mine: the Josh Griffith Very Special Spotlight episode.

Griffith is a master at bringing out the best in characters. His “eye-opening extravaganzas” are usually as emotional as finding your favorite treat on sale in the supermarket. The epiphany that results usually lasts as long as the baked goods.

How accurate that Sharon Case’s dream (Sharon Case), which indicated that she was with Nicholas Morrow (Joshua Morrow), was. Why go forward when you could easily turn back?

Y&R Musings

Nikki is a big girl for admitting that Nate’s (Sean Dominic’s) concern for her was genuine. She may be remembering his selfless acts over the years that he has performed for her and her entire family. He is not the Devil incarnate.

Danny (Michael Damian), perhaps, should put into practice what he preaches to set Phyllis right once and for all.

The Young and the Restless is broadcast on CBS weekdays. Check out the Y&R Spoilers to find out what’s going on in Genoa City.
