Michelle Stafford Reveals the Inner Workings of a Time-Honored Daytime Tradition

In the glamorous world of soap operas, where drama unfolds onscreen, there exists a cherished tradition that unites the leading ladies from popular shows like B&B, GH, and Y&R. Michelle Stafford, the acclaimed actress known for her role as Phyllis on The Young and the Restless, recently spilled the tea on a long-running daytime tradition that brings together the best in the business.

Michelle Stafford gives details on this gathering of actresses.

Titled “Nominees Who Nosh,” this tradition was initiated over two decades ago by Susan Flannery, the former Stephanie from The Bold and the Beautiful. The concept is simple yet elegant – the previous year’s Outstanding Lead Actress winner hosts a luncheon for the following year’s nominees. This year, the honor fell upon the talented Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, a three-time Daytime Emmy winner in the coveted category.

Michelle Stafford, who might secure a nod at the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards later this year, shared her experience from last month’s gathering. The 2023 Lead Actress nominees, including herself, gathered for a memorable event hosted by Mishael Morgan, the winner of the 2022 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress. The star-studded luncheon brought together actresses like Finola Hughes, Sharon Case, and Melissa Claire Egan.

According to Stafford, the event was far from the typical Hollywood affair filled with gossip and complaints. In a deadpan tone, she jokingly remarked, “It was horrible,” before quickly adding, “No, it was amazing. You know what, I really enjoyed it! It was devoid of gossip or anyone complaining about their job. I’m serious. It was the first one I’d been to where everyone was honored and humbled to be there.”

The camaraderie among the nominees was palpable, with Stafford expressing her admiration for the group. She highlighted the genuine connection she shares with some of the fellow actresses, stating, “I felt great about this group. Everyone’s lovely. Two of them [Hughes and Morgan] are my really close friends. Missy, too, is a good friend. Finola is one of my best friends.”

Even Melissa Claire Egan took to social media to share her joy, posting about the fun she had at the luncheon. Egan expressed her gratitude for being nominated alongside such a talented group of women and thanked Mishael Morgan for hosting an epic Lead Actress Nominee Luncheon.

As Michelle Stafford continues her journey in the soap opera realm, this behind-the-scenes glimpse into the camaraderie among daytime television’s leading ladies adds a touch of warmth to the glitz and glamour of the industry.
